IS THIS A BONUS STORY FOR THE FIRST NIGHT OF HANUKKAH?

WHY YES...YES IT IS.

Happy Hanukkah to all!

THE GREEN MENORAH SAVES THE DAY

It’s the first night of Hanukkah

and everything’s set,

but there are no candles…

We can’t light the menorah yet!

“Who can possibly help us?”

Mom woefully asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

He stands tall and proud,

with his hands on his hips,

and his Mom looks at him

with a smile on her lips.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He runs to get candles

and says with a bow,

“I’ll put these in the menorah,

so we can light the first candle now.”

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the second night of Hanukkah,

and we’re ready to play,

but Dad steps on the dreidel

and cracks the clay.

“What can we do?”

Dad looks around and asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

From under his cape,

he pulls out a blue dreidel.

“Here’s a new one to play with

and spin on the table.”

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the third night of Hanukkah,

and we’re ready to eat,

but Mom drops the latkes

on the floor at our feet.

“What can we eat?”

Mom sorrowfully asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He goes to the kitchen

and brings out a new plate,

filled with more golden latkes

that smell really great.

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the fourth night of Hanukkah

and a craft we will do…

a blue and white paper chain,

but we’re all out of glue.

“How can we finish?”

Mom shrugs as she asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He opens his school backpack,

“With my glue stick, that’s how,”

and he hands it to Mom,

“We can finish our chain now!”

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the fifth night of Hanukkah

and we all have new socks,

but Dad’s right one is missing.

It’s not in the box.

“Where is the right one?”

Dad winks as he asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He takes Dad’s left sock

and puts his hand in

and pulls out the right one,

that was hidden within.

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the sixth night of Hanukkah,

and we’re singing the Dreidel Song,

but when we sing the chorus

Dad sings the words wrong.

“Who can correct him?”

Mom laughs as she asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

“It’s not Oh Mabel, Mabel, Mabel,

she fell asleep, oy vey!”

He hands Dad the music,

“It’s dreidel made of clay!”

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the seventh night of Hanukkah,

and the chocolate gelt is hid,

but we can’t seem to find it.

We don’t know what Mom did.

“Where is the gelt?”

Dad playfully asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He looks very thoughtful,

and thinks of Mom’s clues,

“The gelt’s under the coffee table,

right next to Mom’s shoes!”

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

It’s the eighth night of Hanukkah

and the whole family is here,

but Bubbie’s present is missing.

Dad looks around…oh dear!

“Who can help find it?”

Dad grins as he asks,

while little Gary puts on

his green cape and mask.

“You don’t have to fear.

Everything is okay!

The Green Menorah is here

to save the day!”

He runs to the closet

and pulls something out.

A pretty wrapped package…

the gift for Bubbie, no doubt.

A cheer goes up

from our family there,

“Thank you, Green Menorah,

for your help and your care!”

Who is this masked friend

of Hanukkah, you may ask?

Why it can be anyone

who puts on the green mask.

So remember, my friends,

when things go astray,

that the Green Menorah is here

to always save the day!

THE END
